Here's a piece of Fender history: the aluminum body prototype Stratocaster that was presented to Dan Smith in the early 1990s. Fender would later produce limited edition metal bodied Stratocasters including the Aloha aluminum Strat and the Harley Davidson Strat.
Letter of Authenticity includes the following info: #001 neck #E449424 is the very first unit produced as a prototype for Dan Smith the president of marketing for Fender Musical Instruments. This prototype was made and formed by hand metal technique and is the only one of its kind. It is a Stratocaster Plus model with all of the Stratocaster Plus features. The guitar has been fully cleaned and set up in shop with 10-46 gauge strings. It has a comfortable weight at 7 lbs, 10 oz. The guitar is hand signed '001 Proto by Marty 2/15/90'. Electronics date to 1990. Neck is dated 12/17/87.
This unique Stratocaster Prototype is a piece of Dan Smith era Fender history. It's a work of art as well as a great playing instrument! It would make a great addition to anyone's collection.
